A pool deck is the surface around the pool, and coping is the cap along its edge. CoastLife Pools replaces and repairs both across the Treasure Coast: travertine and paver overlays over sound concrete, coping in travertine, precast or cantilevered paver, and crack and spall repair quoted line by line. Doing it with a resurface means everything is chosen, and matched, at once.
What We Do at the Waterline
Choosing a Deck Material
Most Treasure Coast pool decks end up in one of four materials. The right one depends on sun, budget, how the deck will be used, and whether it can go over what you already have.
| Travertine | Concrete pavers | Brushed or broom concrete | Coating or overlay | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Feel underfoot | Coolest, natural stone | Warm to moderate | Warm, can run hot | Depends on the product |
| Look | Premium, natural variation | Many colors and patterns | Plain and functional | Refreshes the look of concrete |
| Repairs | Replace single pieces | Lift and relay single pavers | Cracks show permanently | Recoat periodically |
| Over existing concrete | Yes, if the slab is sound | Yes, if the slab is sound | Full pour | Yes |
| Relative cost | Highest | Moderate | Lowest | Low to moderate |
Paver and travertine options come from the same wholesalers as our patio and driveway work, and we bring samples to lay against your finish and tile before you commit.
Signs the Deck or Coping Needs Work
A deck rarely fails all at once. It tells you first, usually in one of these ways:
- Cracks that widen. hairline cracks that open each season point to movement in the base, not just the surface.
- Loose or rocking coping. a coping stone that moves when stepped on lets water behind it and into the top of the pool wall.
- Trip edges. one slab sitting higher than the next is a safety issue around wet feet and a common inspection finding.
- Standing water. puddles that stay after rain mean the deck is not shedding water where it should.
- Hot, dated concrete. nothing is broken, but the deck is the reason nobody uses the pool at noon.
How a Deck Project Runs
- Assessment. we check the slab, the coping bond and the drainage, and tell you whether the deck can take an overlay or needs to come out.
- Samples and layout. deck, coping, tile and finish samples side by side, laid out against the house and the water.
- Prep or demolition. overlays start with cleaning and leveling the existing slab; replacements start with removal and a new compacted base.
- Coping and deck install. coping sets the pool edge first, then the deck field is laid and pitched to drain away from the pool and the home.
- Seal and clean up. stone and pavers are sealed where the material calls for it, and the pool area is cleaned before we hand it back.

Full driveway and patio projects live under Patios & Driveways; deck work during a resurface is part of a remodel, and larger remodels can be financed through Lyon Financial.
