The short answer

Water features are fountains, waterfalls, bubblers, deck jets and water walls that add moving water and sound to a pool or backyard. CoastLife Pools designs and builds water features and fountains across the Treasure Coast, for new pools, remodels and existing yards, with the plumbing, pump and lighting planned together so each feature runs the way it was drawn.

Types of Water Features

Urn & Pot Fountains
Glazed or terracotta urns that bubble over and spill into the pool or a hidden basin. A soft trickle with a lot of character.
Waterfalls & Rock Features
Stacked stone and boulder falls into the pool, sized to the pump so they run at full flow.
Sheer Descents & Scuppers
A clean sheet of water from a raised wall or spout. Built with a new pool, see spas and water features.
Bubblers & Deck Jets
Bubblers on the sun shelf and arcing jets from the deck. Fun for kids, quiet at night.
Water Walls
A tiled or stone wall with water running down its face, often paired with fire bowls.
Lit and Automated
Water, lighting and fire scheduled together through pool automation.

Real Project: Urn Fountains in a Garden Pool

Four terracotta urn fountains line the edge of a long garden pool, each one spilling back into the water beside a glass tile spa built inside the pool and a bougainvillea pergola. It is a good example of how a simple fountain changes the feel of a whole yard: constant, gentle sound and movement you notice from the house.

Choosing the Right Feature

The right water feature depends on the sound you want, where you will see it from and what your equipment can run.

How We Build Them

  1. Design. the feature is drawn with the pool, deck and lighting, so you see it before anything is built.
  2. Size the equipment. the pump, plumbing and valves are matched to the flow the feature needs.
  3. Plumb and wire. lines and power go in before the deck and landscaping are finished, never trenched through them later.
  4. Build and finish. stone, tile or urns set and leveled so the water falls evenly.
  5. Tune and automate. flow adjusted for the sound you want, and scheduled with your lights and fire if you like.

Water Feature Questions

Can you add a water feature to my existing pool?
Often, yes. Deck jets, bubblers, urn fountains and many waterfalls can be added to a pool that is already built. We check the plumbing and the pump first, because a feature has to be sized to the equipment that runs it.
Does a fountain need its own pump?
It depends on the feature. Some run off the pool pump on a valve, and larger waterfalls and water walls usually get a dedicated pump so they run at full flow without starving the filter. We size it before anything is built.
Do water features use a lot of water?
Features that spill back into the pool recirculate the same water, so you mostly lose a little more to evaporation and splash while they run. Running them on a schedule keeps that in check.
Can water features be controlled from my phone?
Yes. Water features can be tied into pool automation with the lights and fire features, so the whole evening scene comes on together on a schedule or with a tap.
Are water features loud?
You choose the sound. A bubbler or urn fountain is a soft trickle, a sheer descent is a steady fall, and a tall waterfall is a real rush. Moving water is also good at masking road and neighbor noise.
When is the best time to add a water feature?
During a new pool build or a remodel, when the plumbing, electrical and deck are already open. Added later, we plan the route to disturb as little finished deck and landscaping as possible.

We build water features and fountains across Stuart, Palm City, Jensen Beach, Hobe Sound, Sewall's Point, Port St. Lucie, Tradition, Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens. We also take on select projects in other counties. If you are not sure we cover your area, just ask.
